Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi from Wisconsin, zone 4
We just joined your list and look forward to "gardening with you all".
I saw some earlier posts about gardening programs. I recently found one
called Window Garden at the File Pile site. Will try to post the
address for you all. It is shareware and looks pretty good. It does
not help with layout, but does have planting info, seed depth and
planting dates by zones and info on companion planting, as well as pests
and disease info. Looks like it is worth the $20.
We have been gardening in raised beds since 1987 or so using the square
foot method and wide row planting techniques. Mel Bartholomew and Dick
Raymond are two of my favorite gardeners. Currently we have 12-4x10
raised beds, some with hoops to facilitate shade cloth, remay, plastic,
and trellis. We have rhubarb, raspberries, and will be planting
asparagus as well as lots of veggies. We grow our own sweet potatoes
which take up three of the beds. I am member of the local master
gardener chapter (a master gardener in training forever) and enjoy test
gardening for the UW Extension, this is a great way to try new varieties
and learn the importance of good record keeping. Deany
