Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Well, you can start with Ruth Stout's(sp?) book "No Till Gardening" or some
such.
The Idea is very simple, it amounts to slow composting right on the spot.
Cover everything with at least 4 inches of hay, compost or mulch and let
nature do the rest. Worms, bacteria, and weather will slow fertilize,
condition, and 'till' your soil for you. The details are all in things like
how to move it aside to get carrots to grow and what different things can be
used as mulch.
