How about one of those continuous casting concrete machines I see advertised in
the start your own business card decks and back of magazines. They are for making
flower bed borders.
You would spray the soil with paint to mark where you want this thing to pour
concrete then it "pours" something that holds it's shape so no forms necessary.
Don't know if it would work in a tight situation like a 4x4 square but in 4x
longer beds, it should work. Would require a break even analysis but it would also
have amore finished look than block.
Disadvantage/Advantage depending on how you look at it is that once you pour it,
its relatively permanent.
