No, they don't like hot weather. Most people in your zone are picking their
peas by about this time. Sugar Snap peas and Wando peas are more heat
tolerant than most. I was disappointed with Wando's production, however. Go
with the Sugar Snaps.
It may be possible to grow peas at this time of year with a little shade and
a lot of mulch, but for now i'd recommend going with some bush beans that
*love* the hot weather.
Mel's spacing is 8 per sq. ft. in a double row under a trellis. They'll grow
fine at 12 per sq. ft.:
