I read somewhere that watermelons are ready to pick 35 days after the female
flower opens for pollenation. Does anyone have practical knowledge of this
35 day figure? Also, I'm growing a French cantaloupe this year that is grey
rind and red meat. I guess it probably is in another family other than
muskmelons. Is there a rule of thumb as to when charentaris type melons are
ready to pick--35 days or some other figure?? I'm asking on the belief that
this type melon is not full-slip ripe as are muskmelons.
