Re: When and how? Sunflowers


I wait until the petals have dried, the seed head still seems to grow
and swell during this time, then cut it off and let air dry. It is
helpful if you put it on some kind of rack so the "bottom" part
doesn't mildew. I like my sunflower seeds raw so I do nothing for
preparation and, if you want to save some for replanting, do nothing
to them.  Otherwise, I think, but do not remember for sure, you place
the seeds (after rubbing off of the flower) in some salted water and
bake in an oven.
