Don't let your Zuc's get really huge. They taste better about 6" long
before the seeds start maturing. Also, letting the fruits mature on the vine
stops the plant from producing more zuc's.
to the group:
Does anyone know why my tomatoes have leaves that are curling up.? It isn't a
water issue- I have sandy loam soil here in Mid Michigan (Zone 5) and have
had very warm wet weather lately. When I looked at the plants affected they
seemed to have a small hard black shelled bug with tiny legs that where on
the stem- not the leaves.
All this I noticed about 2 weeks ago. I sprinkled with sevin, only the
affected plants and they seem ok now. I just wondered if anyone know's what
that little bug was. :)
Thanks in advance for your advice. I have lerked on this group for about 6
months and find it really helpful. One other thing.. I have been using
willow sticks for supports for the tomatoes this year.. I had to clear them
from the horse pasture anyway and they are about 5-6 feet long I made tee-pee
type supports and the 'matoes luv em. Plus they didn't cost $1 a cage like
they sell at the store.
