Dawn,
Try sprinkling some cayanne pepper on your tomatoes just before dark.
I've been using this trick to keep deer from wiping out my beans and peas
for the past month and it's worked so far. A dose of pepper will last
about 3-4 days unless it rains. Just remember to wash the tomatoes off
before you take a bite. ;-)
