I received the newsletter on small farm digest last week, and just now had a
chance to look it over. This issue concerns the National Organics Standards
Board looks at reissuing the standards draft after 220,000 comments from
growers and consumers about the use and terms of including biotechnology
products, irradiation in organic food processing and application of
biosolids in organic food production. Relabeling will not allow for these
practices in organic production.
There is a lot more and a zillion interesting websites to visit. Start with
the SFD online site itself:
http://www.reeusda.gov/smallfarm
This is a little 8 page factsheet mailed quarterly, so the web site should
have everything the newsletter has in it.
The revised (proposed) organic rule should be available at:

Isn't one of the SQFT members now living in US Virgin Islands? If not, this
is totally off topic, but if so, one of the articles discusses The
University of the Virgin Islands & V I Department of Agriculture Food Fair
to promote small farm efforts. If you're interested in further info, contact
Clinton George, Univ of Virgin Islands, RR02, Box 10,000 Kingshill, St.
Croix, VI 00850. (809) 692-4071
Women in Agriculture:

Conference was held June 28 to July 2 in Washington DC, and hopefully, the
site will have updated information about the symposium / conference by now.
Hope some of this was of interest to a sqft membership!
