Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Hi Janet and all,
The product my dh bought isThuricide concentrate by American. It was
purchased at a small local nursery. It does have the usual canned language
on the label that you mention, but it also states: "Hazards to humans and
domestic animals caution: Harmful if swallowed or INHALED. Avoid breathing
vapors or spray mist. Avoid contact with skin, eyes orclothing. In case of
contact immediately flush eyes or skin with plenty of water. Ged medical
attention if irritation persists. It goes on to discuss flushing
eyes--washing skin etc. Also not contaminating water, FOOD, keep away from
children or pets.
It does not say when it is safe to eat the plants that have been sprayed.
I'm not trying to sound any alarm, I am only asking for advice based on what
those who have used BT do to protect themselves, children and pets and when
the food can safely be eaten after spraying.
I used to follow my grandfather around while he sprayed DDT with one of those
old sprayers with the little barrel can that you pumped as you went creating
a great stinky mist that we had no idea it would hurt us. I have no desire
to add further chemical polution to my already stockpiled pardon the
expression fatty tissue or however I've stored it, or any other health risk.
I agree that it is very strange that a company would shoot themselves in the
foot with such warnings(very dangerous was my interpretation of the
warnings--not their exact words)to me giving the idea of danger more
credibility.
Unintentionally contiversally yours,
Bonnie Christensen
