Aha. When you plant peas in a square foot garden, you plant 8 seeds per
foot, so a 4 foot row gets 32 plants. This puts out a LOT of peas. So if
you do 2 4x4 beds with a 2 foot path between them, you have 12 squares in
each bed that remain where you can plant anything else that strikes your
fancy.

I've copied/modified/updated a square foot garden plot page, it's at:

You could do 2 4x4 plots, and lay it out like this:

North

row of Peas (1 foot by 4 feet)
4 squares of bush beans (1 foot by 4 feet)
large square (2x2) large square (2x2)
of carrots (64 plants) of lettuce (16 plants)

path

row of Peas (1 foot by 4 feet)
4 squares of bush beans (1 foot by 4 feet)
8 squares remain for other crops (like
radishes, broccoli, etc).

South

You can also plant radishes around the lettuce when you plant the lettuce,
the radishes will mature and be harvested before the lettuces need all
their space.

Yep. :-)
