Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
We tried the little black plastic ant bait things this year because I
wouldn't let dh burn tham with his little torch(what fun for him --are all
men --oh well--I don't want to insult all my dear male square footers who
probably would never incinerate little ants). I've encountered quite a few
guys who burn them up--maybe it's some kind of local perversion. Any hoo,
the little bait things worked great. although I always worry about what they
might leave behind in the soil. I'm sure someone else may have an organic
solution. I will also eagerly await it. BTW it was dh(the weel killing, bug
spraying, 25 year advisary to my og efforts who put out the bait.
Grasshoppers: does anyone have an og method for getting rid of them. This
spring we got to a corner in the shed we had not visited for a long time and
there was package of grasshopper spore which after reconsidering due to the
warnings on the package, I put it away and didn't use it litterally for years
and years so we threw it out. I couldn't see how I could work the garden
when it warned not to come in contact with it(I know , I know I'll be accused
of over reacting, but the spore has to lay around and can become airborne(if
memory serves and it often doesn't)and breathed in. My grandchildren are
often in the garden.
Enough about that. I am inundated with them and I am pretty good at catching
and eliminating them but, there are a lot --I mean a lot of them. So any
help would be greatly appreciated.
Remember I do live in Ut. the land of the mormon cricket--which is on the
march the last coulple of years---heading down from Ida.. Would they both
have the same solution. They are devastating---so I'd like to be ready in
advance.

Wondering w hat to do short of digging a trench around the old homestead 1/4
acre suburban lot, and filling it with straw and barbequeing the little
critters like the indians did. Trouble is they are already in the yard.
I'm only a little hyperbolic.
