Yes, we certainly do have fire ants, but these invaders appear to be red ants
of some sort, not the fire ants. Thanks for the reference to the site
www.gardens-alive.com. What a great site...I found a possible solution
there, which I just happen to have on hand---diatomaceous earth (DE). I will
use it carefully on the mound and see how it works. This could be just what
I need!! Probably wouldn't be too practical for grasshoppers??
