Dear Dusty,
It is not a stupid question. The answer is 'It Depends'. It depends on
when you transplanted, how much heat you have had, how much sun your
plants are getting and what type of tomatoes you planted. The bottom
line is that they will turn red whenever they do. I know some gardeners
in Westchester already have cherry tomatoes and the larger ones are
starting to ripen. If you are relatively close to the Southern border
of CT. and planted early varieties sometime in May and they get plenty
of sun, it may be only a week or two. If any of these things are not
true, it may be several weeks. The first year I grew tomatoes, I got
many small fruit early on, but most of them were still green at the end
of the season. My plants were not getting enough sun to ripen the
fruit.
Have you ever tried fried green tomatoes? Sometimes they are just the
thing to get you through until the red ones come.

Hello:
This will probably seem like a stupid question, but I am here in CT and
was
wondering when tomatoes start to be harvested. I have small to med
green
tomatoes all over my plants, was just wondering when they start turning
red?
August?
Thanks
Dusty, in CT
