| As far as I know blossom end rot just makes your tomatoes look ugly.
| You can go ahead and cut the end off and still use it, if its ripe
| enough to use.

| Its caused by a calcium deficiency and uneven moisture.  (Uneven
| availability of moisture affects the plants ability to take up
| calcium).  Two ways to avoid the problem are to plant some crushed
| eggshell with each plant (as you transplant) and to mulch each plant
| heavily to help even out the moisture.  You can also use the automator
| (http://www.mellingers.com carries them) to help with the water
| situation.

| Some people pour milk on the plant if blossom end rot starts to save
| future fruits.  I think this is an expensive solution unless you happen
| to have a cow and lots of excess milk.
