Square Foot Gardening List - http://myweb.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi Paula,
Take a close look at the soil and see if you can detect the silvery
trails of slugs. In my garden they're the ones that usually eat off the
seed leaves, and then they go after the true leaves the next night. It
could also be birds. I have a several cardinals that regular visit my
garden and I caught their fearless leader in my three sisters garden
pulling the squash shoots out of the hills just as they were emerging.
He was so startled to see me there. he and his friends flew off
immediately. Since then the cardinals have not "taken" any babies from
the garden, I am hoping I scared them out of it.
Trudi
