This is not at all uncommon in the small garden. In the cornfield, this
isn't as much of a problem since the other stalks offer wind protection and
support for each other.

Take mounds of dirt and mound it up around each stalk and press it somewhat
firmly into a hill. Be careful not to break the stalks. This generally
works. Once the plant gets more established and the roots deeper this
shouldn't be a problem any more.

Good luck - By the way, I just had to do the same thing with my corn
yesterday. It worked last year so we'll see.
