Re: Zuccini leaves browning
Chances are good that somewhere around that plant, under the leaves, for
instance, there are a bunch of small grey bugs that will grow into the 3/4
inch long squash bugs. Watch for clusters of orange eggs on the leaf stems
and bottoms of the leaf, as well as those large bugs, frequently seen in
the act of mating (i.e., back to back). This is the toughest insect to
control in my garden. I don't want to use a dust, because it would harm
bees. You can't use a soap spray on a squash plant without killing the
plant. Try using a repellant such as Garlic Barrier or hot pepper wax
repellant (read the labels first). Or try Neem, although you may have to
hit the insects to kill them. That plant is probably gone now. Just
preserve your other plants. Margaret L
