Update on the bat situation...
The poor little bat didn't make it. =( I feel very sad about this. However,
I called a bat rescue place (in a round about way...I wrote to a friend who
lives in Australia and he gave me the number of a bat rescue woman in
Florida, who gave me the number of a woman in Washington). I told her the
story and what I had done for the bat and she said there is nothing in slug
bait that would attract a bat. That it was probably already injured and
happened to fall into the bait. She also said they don't eat slugs.
I'm still not using the bait, though. I am going out to get some beer
tonight, and have been hunting them with a combo of Louisiana hot sauce,
water, and soap (I also use it on spit bugs, works great and my whole
garden smells like a Cajun Restaurant!)
Thanks for all of the suggestions!
