Trellis Netting Warning

I have been using Garden Trellis Netting from Burpee for several years to
support my vertical crops. Their catalog states that it is "Guaranteed
for 20 years by manufacturer!" The guarantee may be good for 20 years,
but the netting is NOT.

Yesterday morning I found my vertical Early Girl tomatoes in a horizontal
heap on the ground. What a mess!! The trellis had broken completely and
my three plants, loaded with fruit had crashed. I erected a new trellis
and by padding the stems near the top and tieing a rope and running it
over the top bar of my vertical support I was able to hoist the plants,
one at a time, back into a vertical position and tie them to the trellis.
I believe that this is the third season for this trellis.

It does not appear that the plants sustained major damage. But, the moral
to this story is "Don't put all your faith in the catalog hype, CHECK the
STRENGTH of your trellis"
