Hi Dave,
I fish emulsion/seaweed every other week. John in El Monte is
probably right, I may not have to fish emulsion the tomatoes,
as I use compost in their bed like him, and we live in similar
climates. But I've never done the experiment of leaving them
out of the fertilization, because I usually do just about
everything in the garden at the same time, and I know for sure
that my hot and bell peppers really really appreciate the extra
help. Our soil is majorly sandy, and I know you are not supposed
to overfeed nitrogen to peppers because they get lanky and green
and then don't produce much fruit, but I've found them sickly and
thin with little immature fruit production if I don't feed them.
John is right, there is no correct answer. Try every two weeks,
if your plants look hungry go to every week, etc. etc.
Good luck and keep us posted.
