<< When there's just a few ants here and there inside the house, I either
wipe
them up or ignore them. I can't *imagine* why ants in your garden or
anywhere outside your house would be such a concern that you would seek to
eliminate them! Hasn't it occurred to you that you might not completely
understand the role of ants -- or many of the other garden creatures which
are more of a nusiance than anything else -- in your garden or in the world?
Don't you realize that when you use poison to eliminate one "pest" you will
eliminate many insects you might want to keep -- spiders, ladybugs, etc.?

Just pop my .02 cents in here, : )
I never worried about ants. But when I moved to the south, I lost my first
corn crop-every ear- to the Steroidal Black Carpenter Ants from hell. They
must take lessons from the racoons. They showed up just as the ears were near
ripe, and almost overnight ate every ear. So much for Southern Hospitality!
The little houshold ants dont seem to be a problem, except to thwart aphid
removal attempts, but that isnt a biggie in most cases. But stealing all my
corn, especially when its so close to the pot, is a capitol offense.
