Judy,
What time of day are you looking. My yellow squash have the same problem
except in the morning. When I go into the garden before work (great way to
start the day) I look for female squash flowers. When I see them open
(every few days not every day) I pick a male, pull off its petals, and
stick it in the female to force pollination. I don't catch them all and
some pollinate on thier own but it seems to help keep the production up.
BTW I don't seem to have to do this for anything but the yellow squash.
Hope this helps,
Norm
