Re: Dutch Yellow Shallots

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

I have about a 1/4 acre in elephant garlic [in Blanco, Texas]. It's time
to harvest when the garlic has flowered and the lower leaves have turned
brown... traditionally we should have pulled them this weekend (Memorial
Day) but they aren't quite done and we had some rain this week, so we're
leaving them in the ground for another week or two.

I planted several varieties of Shallots and Garlic early last October, all
are doing great.

The Dutch Yellow Shallots have developed flower pods. WHAT'S THIS?????

Anybody have 1st hand knowledge of what might be going on?
