My favorite square foot bed size is 4x6. I find that the extra reach
doesn't bother me at my height (I'm 5' 17").
However, I do have some beds 2x14 and 2x8. Those sizes were chosen
because that was the space available where the garage meets the house.
They work just fine and let me grow things in otherwise wasted space.
Their being under the dripline is an extra bonus; I rarely water them!
I think the bottom line is to make the beds right for you, so go with
what meets your practical -and aesthetic- needs.
