I have been tossing in the coffee filters with the grounds for some years
now. They do degrade.
Sometimes they reappear in a dried and withered condition, but I tear them
up and put them back into the
most active areas. If this didn't work, I would have about 2,000 coffee
filters in the pile. Last year when we moved, I gave
four pickup loads of compost to a friend and moved two here, which meant
pitchforking and shoveling through all of it.
No filters found. Lots of earthworms and sowbugs.
