Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Deb, gardening is about fun and relaxing - not stressing out! For some of us
it is our relaxation "therapy" after a busy week at work. It seems to me that
nature has a way of forgiving imperfections in us gardeners and will make up
for our short comings most of the time. The way I have my tomato plot
figured is 3 feet wide, and the plants put in sort of like a checkerboard
layout*, with basil in the squares the tomatoes are not in. This uses every
square foot, but leaves room for each tomato plant to have good air
circulation. My plot is 3 x 9 and there will be about 13 tomotoes in this
area. My peppers, however, I put 1 per square foot and if your soil is well
amended, there should be no problem.
* tomato basil tomato basil tomato basil
baisl tomato basil tomato basil tomato
tomato basil tomato basil tomato basil
this is a sort of example of what I am doing (sorry for lack of squares to
make it easier to see)
Good luck, enjoy your garden this year!
