You also have to pay attention to the variety. Mel did grow 64 plants in a 4
x 4 plot with success, but as noted had fertile soil, paid attention to
watering and used a particular variety of corn, I disremember which one, but
don't try this with your Bloody Butcher unless you are strictly growing it
for a compost crop or silage, would be my advice...LOL!
This was detailed in an Organic Gardening magazine article on Mel's methods,
circa 1995, I believe.
