Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
For my nickel, these tumbler composters are a bit overrated because, even
though it says 14 days, what you have after fourteen days of tumbling is not
fully mature compost.
They work best operated on a batch system, which means you still need a
container for compost while the batch is being tumbled; in other words, you
fill it, and then start the process; meanwhile kitchen wastes need a place
to back up, etc.
After the fourteen days, which could take longer, you still need to set the
material aside and let it cure before you can use it as a general all
purpose compost.
I have had a small tumbler and a medium size one (Envirocycle and EZ Spin)
and both worked, but neither was really a compost factory, if you know what
I mean.
These days I am less in a hurry. Compost happens, and some of the good
happenings take place when the material is left alone and the fungi are able
to do their work, something that is interrupted in a frequent stirring
regime, as I understand it.
At more than 300 US dollars, a tumbler does not give bang for the buck,
IMHO.
My tuppence,
Frank Teuton
