Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
You REALLY have got to try making at least one of these. When I read
about the method in an email sent to me by one of my fellow seed traders
I couldn't believe that such a thing existed. I was extremely curious
about the whole idea and being as it was time to break down last year's
mulch pile her timing was perfect.
Lasagna beds are made by first laying down some newspaper to kill the
sod (you don't even have to dig up the grass......HOORAY). I did use
some edging as an outline, the wire picket stuff that folds up accordion
style< and then you fill it in by layering your garden browns and
greens, topping off with a layer of soil or screened compost. I
sprinkled mine with slow release fertilize, sort of like sprinkling a
little parmesan on top of a lasagna.
The beauty of these beds is that you can plant in them right away, you
don't have to wait for them to "cook" like an IBM bed. The first one I
made I transplanted all my cane berries into with a planting of the
strawberries from last years runners. The cane berries are getting
their seasonal new growth, and the new shoots are coming up quite
vigorously, but the hands down winner are the strawberries, these are
growing at a very fast rate, they're lush and it looks so far to be a
much healthier looking bed than ever. I honestly believe that these
strawberries are really going to develop into some major plants.
Here's a good link, from another board, and it's definitely worthwhile
looking at it. You can by the book from Amazon, though I got mine at a
Borders Store.

Good Luck with this, and I can honestly swear that I will never dig
another bed again. Lasagna Bed Gardening can definitely be "applied" to
Square Foot Methods.
