For several years, my husband has been plying grass clippings in one of my
unused raised beds to make compost.  I was wanting to plant corn in it this
year.  Do I need to do anything to it?  Can I just plant on top of the
compost?

Linda zone 8- You might like to check out the link (from another post I saved) below regarding lasagna gardening. It might be right up your alley. I have tried the lasagna method and it works for me. (see the story at:

Note that we did not follow the lasagna method exactly but made it work according to what we were trying to do- create a usable bed immiediately without all the digging, de-sodding, etc.
