Re: mulching suggestions?

I always prefer to use an organic mulch so that as it breaks down it will
enrich my soil.  I usually go the cheapest route which around here is
bales of straw. Bark mulch can get to be spendy plus it doesn't break
down very quickly at all. Seems to me it would prove to be a nuisance to
working in the garden bed - would have to keep moving it around to add
fertilizer or new plants. I also use the straw in conjunction with grass
clippings and leaves for making compost which would make an excellent
mulch if you have enough of it to spare. We usually don't.
