First, I'd like to thank you all for some wonderful ideas. As a result of some very clay soil, I'm constructing 4' x 12' raised beds out of cement blocks. (Yes, I'll plant some flowers in the little holes.) I wouldn't mind installing a drip irrigation system while I'm at it (I just got a catalog from Dripworks out of Oregon), but I'm not wuite sure the best way to do it. Do I need to customize water distribution to each square foot area, depending on what's planted in it? > I suggest also considering the issue of irrigation prior to building > all the beds. Lots of folks install drip irrigation in > their raised beds (economical, saves water, applies water to the > plants and not extraneous areas), others use hoses (I'm still using the > drag-around-the-hose-with-the-rain-wand method, but I enjoy it right > now), etc. Thanks, John J.
