I have a couple of Jerry's books and have used some of his concoctions with
varied results. However, using any home brew which is made from tobacco
products is NOT harmless. The active ingredient in the resulting brew is
nicotine. Nicotine sulphate (I believe) was a commonly used insecticide
until it was made practically obsolete by the chemical industry. It is
still available, but you would have to look hard to find it. It is an
extremely effective insecticide, but also can kill warm blooded creatures
(read kids, adults, pets, etc.). It can also spread tobacco mosaic virus
which will affect all member of the nocotia family such as tomatoes,
potatoes, peppers,etc.
My advice would be to use his "brews" with a great deal of caution.
