Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has any comments from their sqft or in this case
round-foot garden on growing potatoes in a large plastic garbage can, well
drained, and using the cover as they grow method. Our really small garden
space doesn't have the room to put them in the ground, and I like the idea
of increasing harvest with the mulching method, and of course the ease of
harvesting, and not having those volunteer potatoes all over the place for
the rest of time. I know this works well with wooden containers (for
instance old wine barrels), but would there be problems with outgassing
from the plastic leaching into the soil? Would too much heat be generated
by the dark plastic color? I'd like to take advantage of the cheap and
available container. Thanks so much for any suggestions.
Regards,
Laurie
