Re: peppers and sq ft...


Peppers, like tomatoes, are basically self-pollinating.  That doesn't mean
that there isn't some crossing caused by wandering bees.  But, you can plant
only one pepper and harvest loads of fruit.  So plant your peppers where
ever you like.  One hint--I always place a small tomato cage (the 24-inch
ones) around my pepper transplants.  When they are loaded with fruit in
mid-summer, the cage helps to support all those sagging stems.
