Patio Garden

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi Ya'll
I decided to grow me some food this year so I bought the Mel Bartholomew book on square ft gardens.  I kinda live close to downtown and I didn't have space, with sun, to put my vegi's so I'm putting them on my cement driveway.  I chose to go with the patio garden and I built a 4 by 4 foot, 12 inch deep, Cedar box that sits about 1 foot off the ground, and has a 3/4 inch piece of plywood as the bottom.

The book never mentions any type of drainage system for this type of setup.  So what do I do?  Do I really need this to drain or can I just watch my watering?  What happens when It rains?  Helllllllllpppp!  Do I just drill a ton of holes in the plywood or is a few good enough?

I also had a question on the type of soil to use.  The book has you mix a special cocktail mixture of equal parts of peatmoss, compost, topsoil, and vermiculite.  Can I just go to one of the local Barkdust companies and buy one of the mixtures they have or is the "PCTV" mixture a must.

Hopefully someone out there has done this type of system and can help me out.
Thanks in advance,
Curt
