Re: Potato Help

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Jeavons gives good potato advice in The Backyard Homestead Mini-Farm and
Garden Log Book; Garden Way Publishing Bulletin A-4 covers both white and
sweet potatoes (which are very different plants).

Most of us in the North aren't thinking about planting either for a month or
two yet; this year I will be growing sweets for the first time ever, thanks
to the encouragement of Greg Wingate of Mapple Farms, who ships sweet potato
slips to both Canada and the US. He offers a fine book on Northern sweet
potato growing by Ken Allan, an Ontario gardener with a bent for research.

You can reach Greg at <wingate@NBNET.NB.CA>; ask for his email catalog, and
specify whether you are American or Canadian.

Hope this helps,

Frank---who has returned from Florida, but is still not fully geared up to
garden, it being all snowy and cold outside, with planting a ways off (I
start my tomatoes in April, folks...:-)
