I tried it last year, using the Early Sunglow variety mentioned in the OG 
article.  I was happily surprised to have some plants give 2 ears per plant 
(in the OG article, they say to expect only 1 ear per plant when planted 
this closely).  I was planting in the site of a former horse manure compost 
pile, so the plants had tons of nutrients.

jc  (no garden this year, expecting a baby horse instead :-)
