Just because the one part of a plant is edible doesn't mean all parts are. Tomato leaves are poisonous, for example. I remember reading somewhere that _Lathyrus_ seeds are toxic, but i can't remember where. The information that i could find via Alta Vista says that they can cause bone damage to horses and aneurisms (yikes!) in horses and turkeys, but does not report toxicity in humans.
