There are other reasons to prevent carrots from sprouting:
-- Too much fertilizer: They really don't like that. Use a bed
that was not fertilized in the current year, fertilize after
the seedlings are at least 2.5 cm high.
-- Too much water! Despite carrots love that, slugs and snails
love it more, and they especially love carrot seedlings...
-- Impatience. Carrots need their time to sprout: 21 to 40 days,
even longer in early spring. Mark the rows with radish
and be careful. When the radishes are ripe, the carrot seedlings
are ready for thinning (about 5 cm high).
