First let me say that I am new to this list and that I am more a container gardener but I am learning so much from you all. I was told of an interesting way to grow potatos that would be container gardening I think. start with one old tire and plant the potatos in it then put a second tire on top of that and fill with soil and so on until you get it to the height you want. Not to high or it will fall over. when you harvest you take the tires off one at a time and the potatos fall out or are easy to pick out of the exposed soil. > <So technically they aren't part of the "square foot" garden. Your experiment would have worked fine here in So. > Calif. where we have not had rain for months. > As for Square containers when I lived in a house and had a yard I had square foot containers make for me so that I could sit beside them and garden I have a bad back and would not be able to garden any other way. > oldjohn@juno.com > John Orwick > El Monte, CA > > oldjohn@juno.com > John Orwick > El Monte, CA > I do hope this helps I do like this list a lot and hope to keep learning.
