Yes, definitely. They grow up to 2 meters, and that's too tall
within a kitchen garden. They not only are invasive, they are
quite persistent; you have to dig out the very last tuber
to get rid of them.
On the other hand, on the north side of a garden, in a separate bed,
they can give you quite a lot of tasty tubers and sometimes
of nice flowers too. But this has nothing to do with SQFT gardening.
