Escar-Go Report

Well, I got my Escar-go (organic slug and snail bait) two days ago and I already see a difference. I had some Nicotiana seedlings which were guaranteed to have 3-5 tiny slugs chomping away each morning. I have found no slugs at all on them in the past two mornings. In the veggie garden, the few carrots (from my second sowing) which survived the earlier slug assaults are still standing. It's clear to me that the slugs are eating the bait and no longer eating my fragile seedlings. Apparently it takes 3-6 days for them to die though they no longer eat after ingesting it.

Some info off the package: 1% iron phosphate, 99% inert ingredients, application rate 1 lb per 1000 square feet, can be used around domestic animals and wildlife, the precautionary statement mentions mild eye irritation as its hazard to humans and animals. My cats, even the big, greedy, I'll-eat-anything-I-damn-well-please one, ignored it even though he followed me around while I was applying it. It's formed into tiny pellets about the size of a broken off pencil lead tip, but white in color. I paid $35 for 5.5 pounds from Garden's Alive and it seems worth every penny.
