Trudy - you have a while to go - I have a bronze fennel in my front yard
(in central VA) and it gets over my head.  I love it. 

Ricky - you are right - it can be as bad as mint, IF you don't pick the
flower heads before it goes to seed - mine is now 4 years in my garden
and it is still managable - but I forgot to pick all of the flowerheads
(or put stockings over them - the best way to trap the seeds) - and I
got seedlings galore.  I am donating them to the church for a yard sale.
