Actually, I had fine pollination with six corn plants in my triangle
garden last year. The problem I had was I made the mistake of
throwing an ear on the ground after checking for ripeness. The
squirrels discovered it and that was the end of the corn.
I am in zone 6 and the corn has been in for a week. So the only
problem I could imagine you would have in zone 7 is if hot weather is
a deterrent for corn germination.
