This is what I've done too ... it's great stuff.  If you live near a fishing
port you can often pick up used net for a song (or a bottle of rum!).  I've
mostly used it to fashion a nearly invisible deer fence around my garden.
It's been up for several years now and shows no signs of weakening.  Most of
the net I've got is fairly lightweight but I've also bought much heavier
stuff which would be suitable for a trellis.
