Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
I have grown strawberries in my garden for some time and mulch is really
helpful, both for keeping off the weeds and for keeping the plants moist in
the heat. Straw is used a lot, or you could try that brown paper mulch,
though I found it ripped too much for my liking.
You can get lots of strawberry information from :

Since we've been talking sunflowers--I put some "Teddy Bear" sunflowers in
the bare spots in my strawberry bed last summer, along with some other
flowers. I spaced them about a foot apart and they did fine that way. Small
varieties (Teddy Bear only get about 2' high) might work better in limited
space and they're less likely to topple.
