Figures! I can finally contribute something to this list and it's about
manure! What might kill earthworms (and a bunch of other critters and
micro-critters) is the wormer used in both horses and cattle.
We have horses and do not use the manure for gardening for at least 10
days after worming. No matter what wormer is used, they're all pretty toxic.
Antibiotics shouldn't be as big a problem, but I'd also not use manure from
animals currently on them....although most are out of their system 24-48
hours after usage has stopped.
Also, knowing what critters *are* in manure (hence, the need for wormer)
we, ideally, compost the manure first, or at least let it dry out well before
using.
