Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Yer talkin' 'bout Jerry Baker, whose writing is available commercially and
in libraries...
Ammonia on the lawn is not too harmful as long as the amounts at any one
time are small....Baker calls it a 'thunderstorm in a bottle', a reference
to the fact that thunderstorms, due to the electrical activity in the
atmosphere, are splitting up a significant amount of atmospheric N, which
normally occurs in a relatively inert triple bonded diatomic form, N2, and
turns it into a single N form that soil organisms and plants can absorb....
Baker has quite the set of ideas, but the day I buy Listerine to spray on my
lawn or beer to put in the compost pile is the day I hope someone dials 911
and asks for the men in the clean white suits to come and take me
away.....<big grin>
Make mine compost tea, please....commercial ammonia production is energy
intensive and we are throwing away more N and other soil nutrients than you
can shake a stick at...
Frank---they're coming to take him away, ha ha, ho, ho, hee, hee, to the
funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time, and I'll be happy to see,
those nice young men, in their clean white coats, and they're coming to take
me away!!!! (These are words from a song, in case you might think I've
totally flipped out......:-)

ammonia, beer, dishsoap (I think), fish emulsion, and some other
ingredients.
